Vancouvers Global Container Terminals Renovation

space

Global Container Terminals (GCT) is the largest majority Canadian-owned terminal operator serving world’s leading ocean carriers and shipping lines on the West Coast of Canada. With over a century of experience, GCT has played a major role in developing Canada’s Pacific Gateway. We had the pleasure of working with them to spruce up their GCT Vanterm terminal.

The goal, to create a durable, professional and clean facility to receive and facilitate port authority employees, guests and trading partners through this center.  While small, this space packed punch with using their vibrant blue in key areas and signage. Subway tiles and acoustical wall covering used the same geometries and stacked shipping containers in the port. A timeline designed with Pendo illustrated the major moments in the Vancouver Port’s existence.

We worked very closely with GCT’s branding team to create  timeline, designed in partnership with Pendo which highlights pivotal moments in Vancouver Port's history, adding a narrative layer to the space. We featured a very old scaled model of a shipping boat in a plexi glass encasement which was meaningful to the group.  Their bright corporate blue was used in small text elements to identify room names and wayfinding.

This project is a testament to how thoughtful design can transform even the smallest spaces into impactful, functional environments.
