LGM
space
Anytime you buy a car, chances are LGM is the company behind the car brand making sure you get proper insurance coverage should your windshield get chipped, the leather interior become damaged, or the shiny automotive paint get scratched.
design that tells a story
LGM's original offices were dark and dreary. Everyone was working in closed environments with separations, which did not encourage collaboration or sharing information. CEO Adam Hill wanted to change this up dramatically. LGM embraced the move as a wonderful new chapter in the evaluation of the company. The sense of the energy and the excitement from the staff was infectious.
Early on LGM they made it clear they wanted to celebrate their position in the automotive industry that they are part of. Our job was to edit and simplify all various car concepts into elegant design interventions that would start the test of time and not become to thematically.
the result
Diverse Palette: LGM's new space now has many workspace options to suit each personality type. Contrary to the fears of moving to more of an open culture, staff was pleasantly surprised at the number of workspace options available to them, including outdoor patios with bookable meeting rooms that grace each level.
Design that tells a story: Spread out over three floors, guests step through the doors on the fourth floor into what feels like a prestigious automotive showroom, and white polished concrete floors and automotive finished panelling make up the entry sequence. Shattered glass is also the central interior material that represents windshield repair (just one of LGM’s many service offerings). A suspended life-sized Volkswagen mobile car is the capstone of the two-story café, which is made up of hundreds of spun aluminum balls. The one of a kind sculpture represents the Volkswagen bug, one of the first car brands LGM acquired as a client in 1988.
Yellow, Yellow and more yellow: One of LGM’s main brand colours is yellow. It was essential to the team that this be celebrated in some way. All vertical circulation is highlighted in LGM’s corporate yellow to identify how you navigate throughout the three floors. The integrated stair seems more like a sculptural piece rather than a means of egress. Glasfurd Walker was also a trusted partner who helped transform LGM’s passions and brand messaging into new and creative applications throughout the space.
“The best part is watching the reaction from our clients and staff when they look down in a meeting. We refurbished car engines and used them as the table bases. These engines act as art throughout the office. People have a smile on their face all the time when they walk through our space.“
